The length of time that a cookie remains on your computer or mobile device depends on whether it is a "persistent" or a "session" cookie. Session cookies last until you stop browsing, and persistent cookies last until they expire or are deleted. Most of the cookies we use are persistent and expire between 30 minutes and two years from the date they are downloaded to your device.

Google Analytics and advertising

We use Google Analytics to help us understand how our customers use the Site. You can read more about how Google uses your personal information at https://www.google.com/intl/en/policies/privacy/. You can opt out of Google Analytics at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

We may use information about your use of the Site to show you advertising or marketing communications about our products that we believe may interest you. You can opt out of targeted advertising through your Google ad settings at https://www.google.com/settings/ads/anonymous, the Digital Advertising Alliance of Canada at https://youradchoices.ca/ or the Digital Advertising Alliance at https://optout.aboutads.info/. For more information about how targeted advertising works, visit the Network Advertising Initiative's educational page at https://www.networkadvertising.org/understanding-online-advertising/how-does-it-work.

Managing cookies

You can control and manage cookies through the cookie preferences offered on the Site, where available, and through your browser settings (often found in the "Tools" or "Preferences" menu). For more information, see your browser's help file or www.allaboutcookies.org. Please keep in mind that removing or blocking cookies can negatively affect your experience, and parts of the Site may no longer be fully accessible. Blocking cookies may not completely prevent how we share information with advertising partners; to opt out of those uses, follow the instructions above.

Do Not Track

Because there is no consistent industry understanding of how to respond to "Do Not Track" signals, we do not alter our data collection and usage practices when we detect such a signal from your browser.

Automated decision-making

We do not make decisions based exclusively on automated processing of your personal information that have a legal or similarly significant effect on you. Our platform provider Shopify uses limited automated processing to prevent fraud, which does not have a legal or otherwise significant effect on you. This includes a temporary block of IP addresses associated with repeated failed transactions (lasting a small number of hours) and a temporary block of credit cards associated with blocked IP addresses (lasting a small number of days).

7. Sharing with service providers

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We share it only as needed with service providers who help us run our business, and only for the purposes described in this policy:

  • Shopify, which powers our online store. You can read more about how Shopify uses personal information at https://www.shopify.com/legal/privacy.
  • Payment processors, such as Shopify and PayPal, to process payments.
  • Shipping carriers, such as UPS, to deliver your orders.
  • Google, for the analytics described above.

We require our service providers to protect personal information and to use it only to provide services to us. We may also disclose personal information to comply with applicable laws and regulations, to respond to a subpoena, search warrant or other lawful request, or to otherwise protect our rights.

8. Storage and transfers outside Québec and Canada

Our headquarters and warehouses are located in the United States, and our service providers, including Shopify, may store and process personal information in the United States and other countries. As a result, your personal information will be transferred to, stored in and processed outside Québec and outside Canada, mainly in the United States.

When personal information is outside Canada, it is subject to the laws of the country where it is located and may be accessed by the courts, law enforcement and national security authorities of that country. As required by Québec law, before communicating personal information outside Québec, we assess whether it will receive adequate protection, and we use contractual and other measures to protect it.

9. Retention

We keep personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, including to meet our legal, accounting, tax, warranty and reporting obligations. When it is no longer needed, we securely destroy it or anonymize it. You may ask us to delete your personal information; we will do so unless we are required or permitted by law to keep it.

10. Security

We use reasonable physical, organizational and technological safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information to protect personal information against loss, theft and unauthorized access, use, disclosure, copying or modification. Access is limited to employees and service providers who need it to perform their duties. Credit card information is encrypted during transfer over networks. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

11. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:

  • access the personal information we hold about you and be informed of how it is used, who has access to it and how long it is kept;
  • rectification: ask us to correct personal information that is inaccurate, incomplete or out of date;
  • withdraw your consent to the use or disclosure of your personal information;
  • data portability: receive computerized personal information you provided to us in a structured, commonly used technological format, or have it sent to a person or organization you designate;
  • de-indexation, where applicable: ask us to stop disseminating your personal information or to de-index any hyperlink attached to your name that gives access to it, where the dissemination contravenes the law or a court order or causes you serious injury;
  • deletion of personal information that is no longer needed or that was collected in contravention of the law.

To exercise these rights, contact our Privacy Officer using the details in section 2. We may ask you to verify your identity. We will respond in writing within 30 days of receiving your request. Access is free of charge, although a reasonable fee may be charged for the transcription, reproduction or transmission of information where the law allows; we will tell you about any fee in advance. If we refuse a request, we will explain why and tell you about your recourse.

12. Confidentiality incidents

If a confidentiality incident (breach of security safeguards) involving your personal information occurs, we will take reasonable measures to reduce the risk of injury and prevent similar incidents, and we will record the incident in our register. If the incident presents a risk of serious injury (Québec) or a real risk of significant harm (PIPEDA), we will notify the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec and/or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, as applicable, and the individuals concerned.

13. Complaints

If you have a concern or complaint about how we handle your personal information, please contact our Privacy Officer first using the details in section 2. We will investigate and respond to you.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to file a complaint with:

  • the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec: www.cai.gouv.qc.ca (for individuals in Québec);
  • the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada: www.priv.gc.ca.

14. Minors

The Site is intended for businesses and professionals and is not directed at minors. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors.

15. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect, for example, changes to our practices or for other operational, legal or regulatory reasons. We will post the updated policy on this page with a new "Last updated" date and, if the changes are significant, we will inform you by reasonable means.
